The present lighthouse at Akrotiri was manufactured in 1892 by a French company and is found at the very Southenmost tip of Santorini (Thira ) island.
A square tower 10m high with a house for lighthouse-keepers. The light was initially fuelled with petroleum.
During the 2nd World War the light was switched off until 1945 when The Hellenic (Greek) Navy decided to reconstruct the lighthouse network.
